Lauren Tymchuk is a third-generation American whose grandparents immigrated from Poland and Ukraine, laying the foundation for her family's future through extraordinary sacrifice, resilience, and hard work. Lauren grew up in Gainesville, GA and attended North Hall High School, where she was a highly competitive athlete. After high school, Lauren received an early acceptance into the University of Georgia and graduated with honors with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a minor in Exercise and Sport Science. Lauren spent her patient care hours prior to physician assistant school volunteering at Good News Clinics of Gainesville and Grace Village Medical Clinic, serving abroad in El Salvador, and working as a medical assistant in cardiology at Piedmont Heart Institute in Athens. After working alongside Mercer faculty and students at Grace Village Medical Clinic in Clarkston, GA, one of the most prominent refugee resettlement hubs in the nation, Lauren knew that Mercer was for her.
Lauren became a board-certified Physician Assistant after graduating from Mercer's Physician Assistant program in Atlanta, where she served as president of the Christian Medical and Dental Associations promoting unity, strong values, and leadership. Lauren received academic excellence all semesters of PA school with a 4.0 GPA and was inducted into the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society and Pi Alpha Physician Assistant Honor Society. After walking through cancer diagnoses in her own family, Lauren found the field of urology to be especially rewarding. Lauren is excited to meet patients in vulnerable spaces, empower patients using the most up to date evidenced-based research, and offer hope through state-of-the-art surgical advancements that bring about an enhanced quality of life. Lauren is passionate about patient-centered care and making her patients feel seen and valued.
Outside of medicine, Lauren enjoys finding new coffee shops, staying as physically fit as possible, and eating good food with the ones she loves the most.
